Cindy Erickson – "Confessions of a Scrapper"Join Cindy as she shows you the many ways to use the scrap fabric collections that we all gather and how they can work together. Cindy was an interior decorator for 8 years, then began making and selling appliquéd wallhangings, clothing and crafts. She later expanded her interests to include teaching quilting and making commission pieces. Today, she makes samples for major companies like P&B, Springs, RJR, and Quiltmaker Magazine. She has co-authored books and patterns with Jo Morton and has been published in "Quiltmaker," "Fons and Porters" magazines and Leisure Arts publications. Her quilts have been shown in AQS, Houston, PIQS and NQA. Cindy is very involved in the local and national quilt family. She became a National Quilting Association Certified Quilt Judge in 1998. She has judged for local and national shows around the country. She is currently teaching quilting and specialty clothing classes at Bernina Sewing Center in Omaha. She specializes in teaching rotary and sewing machine skills in all aspects of quiltmaking to all skill levels and teaches several wearable art classes. "Professional Quilter Magazine" nominated her for National Teacher of the Year in 2009. Friday, March 9, 2012 - 2:00 p.m.
Trish Stuart – "A Quilter's Journey"Join Trish Stuart in a madcap whirl of laughter and fun as you view a wide array of styles in quilting during this presentation. You will see everything from traditional to art quilts, piecing, applique, curves and paint. If you want to be inspired to step out of the box, this trunk show will encourage you to push the boundaries. A dominant theme through much of her work is, you guessed it, flowers...so this presentation is just perfect for the theme of the Dallas Quilt Celebration 2012 - In Full Bloom. Trish Stuart has authored books, patterns, and DVD's beginning in 1989 and taught throughout Canada, the United States and most recently on a cruise to the Caribbean and up the Inland Passage to Alaska. She has been featured in national quilt magazines as well as being a guest on nationally publicized television and internet programs. Trish was honored to be recognized by both Pfaff and Viking as one of their Sewing Stars. Her quilts have traveled extensively throughout the United States and have even taken a tour through England and Europe. She is known for her art quilting, and most recently for the books utilizing the popular pre-cut strip kits. For more information about Trish and her patterns, visit her website: www.trishstuart.com. Saturday, March 10, 2012 - 11:00 a.m.
Carol Morrissey – "Flowers + Photos + Fabrics = Quilts"Join Carol for a lively talk about her quilts that are on display in the Special Exhibits area of the Dallas Quilt Celebration. She will discuss how flowers inspire her to paint and quilt, and how you can also be inspired by nature's color palette. She will share information about the tools and methods she uses to make her quilts, such as paints, inks and dyes, digital imagery and her favorite tool, a camera. Carol Morrissey made her first quilt in the eighties and was smitten! She loves all kinds of quilts and techniques, but she is especially fond of making quilts that are inspired by nature. Her quilts have been featured in numerous publications and juried shows as well as a solo exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science. Three of Carol's quilts are included in the recently released book Lone Stars III, A Legacy of Texas Quilts, 1986-2011. Read more about Carol and view her patterns on her website at www.ocaroldesigns.com. DemonstrationsWant to learn about new quilting gadgets or learn about a new technique?
