Dallas Quilt Celebration 2012 - 19th Miniature Quilt Auction

Our Miniature Quilt Auction was held on Saturday, March 10th. The Viewer's Choice Award for mini-auction donations went to Betty Skelton for her quilt entitled: "Basket of Pansies." Betty is shown below with her ribbon and quilt. Her mini sold for $340.

We are proud to announce this year's beneficiary of our Miniature Quilt Auction:

The Hobby Crafters Foundation

This foundation was created by Arch McNeill, M.D., who recruited seniors to assist with making toys, stools, cradles, trucks and trains for children who would not receive anything during the holidays. Last year over 9000 toys were made by this all-volunteer organization. They operate strictly on funds given by the McNeill family and donations. No funds go to salaries or other administrative costs. In the past, maintenance on the workshop and equipment has either been minor or donated to the foundation. That means that all donations to Hobby Crafters Foundation are used for supplies to make the toys.

Hobby Crafters partners with local churches and charitable organizations, which identify the children recipients and distribute the toys. SER International Ministries, Catholic Charities, Four Mile Lutheran, Gross Rd. Baptist Church and Salvation Army are just a sampling of the 27 organizations that they partnered with in the past to provide toys to children that would not otherwise receive a toy during the Holiday Season.

These are some of the toys made by Hobby Crafters volunteers:
