Remember me? Shelly Goodwyn. Formerly from Red Oak and now living in East Dallas near White Rock Lake. I sold my insurance agency in 2017 and worked for 2 years as an agent for a different agency. Last May I retired to focus on taking care of my husband. Though I haven’t been active in the guild much lately, I have in the past. I’ve been President and Show Chair for two terms each, Programs/Workshops one term, and worked with Rhonda Anderson in Community Service for most of my years at the guild. I joined the guild in about 1993 and have been on the show committee since 1997. I have two grown children (BTW Laura is a great mother of two girls); three step children and a combined seven grandchildren with another one due in late May. In this crazy social distancing mess, I spend my days walking, sewing, reading, line dancing (online), jigsaw puzzles, and keeping up with church friends.
1st VP, Community Service
Melanie has been a member of the guild for almost 40 years. She loves piecing and quilting on her machine, but also loves occasional hand applique and hand quilting. She enjoys making quilts for Covers for Kids, volunteering at the quilt show, and traveling anywhere. She also loves boating with her husband at the lake and watching the hummingbirds from their back porch.

3rd VP, Programs and Workshops
3rd VP, Programs and Workshops
4th VP, Communications
Her volunteer activities for the quilter’s guild include being past president, vice president finance, vice president programs, vice president community outreach and miniature quilt auction co-chair. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. John’s University and a Masters of Science from Wright State University. Her interests include gardening, quilting and traveling. One characteristic is that she loves to learn… is always interested in learning something new that is what makes being a quilter so special!
5th VP, Finance
She retired in 2018 from Child Study Center in Fort Worth where she was the Chief Financial Officer for eighteen years. She has a CPA certificate from the State of Nebraska and Masters Degree in Professional Accountancy from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She is married to Steve and has two sons, Mike and Dan. Mike lives in Chicago with his wife and two daughters, and Dan lives in Omaha with his wife, daughter, and son.
Lut De Mulder
6th VP, Show
She’s very proud of her 6 grandchildren: Sebastien, Isabella, Amelia, Sara, Viktor and Camelia. They all sleep under many of Lut’s quilts. She started quilting during her 3 years in Houston and found this a great way to make friends. After 10 years of teaching English and French as a second language at the Dallas International School, Lut retired to use all the fabric and quilting toys she bought over the years. She has been an active member of the Dallas and Plano quilt guilds in Texas, and the Canton and Cruso guilds in N.C., where she spends her summers. Besides quilting she loves to cook (French of course), enjoys wine (also French), fitness and travelling the world with her husband.
7th VP, Education
In college Marcia considered majoring in Art, Physics, Math, Chemistry, Geology, etc. She settled on Geology but always maintained an interest in how the world works (Physics), and a love of exploring art processes, loving the tactile and the visual. And, she loves sharing her curiosity and interests. She has taught in a variety of settings including home educating two children through high school, but her favorite job has been teaching beginning quilters, as well as more experienced quilters.
Marcia looks forward to challenging Guild members with new skills and fulfilling the mission of the Guild, “… to be a source of information and inspiration, to perpetuate a high quality of excellence in quilting…”
