Dr. Marian Ann Montgomery
Quilter’s Guild of Dallas is pleased to welcome quilter and quilt historian Dr. Marian Ann Montgomery as an engaging speaker at the Thursday, November 6 meeting. Most of you know Dr. Montgomery as a member of the Quilter’s Guild of Dallas since 1989, as well as for the personal quilt tours she leads during the Dallas Quilt Show. Dr. Montgomery is currently the Curator of Clothing and Textiles at the Museum of Texas Tech University.
Lecture: Mountain Mist: From Clever Marketing to Beautiful Treasures. Dr. Montgomery’s presentation will focus on the Museum’s collection of quilts that are based on patterns published on the Mountain Mist Batting Wrappers. Over the years the Museum of Texas Tech University has been given almost 40 quilts made from the 100 patterns published on Mountain Mist wrappers. The bulk of the wonderful examples came from the collection of quilt historian and appraiser, Marcia Kaylakie of Austin. “I am honored that Marcia chose to donate her incredible collection of Mountain Mist quilts to the Museum of Texas Tech University along with four notebooks of booklets and batting wrappers published in conjunction with the patterns,” Dr. Montgomery said when the donation first arrived.
No workshop for November.
