Workshop: Lucious Velvet Strawberries for Christmas
Join us at Best Little Retreat Center in Texas on Saturday, December 6, for a cozy holiday Zoom workshop to make silk velvet strawberry pincushions with master silk ribbon embroidery designer Mary Jo Hiney. Mary Jo hand dyes beautiful silk velvets and ribbons in a broad range of colors to create kits for her designs and is well known for her how-to books and online classes. Mary Jo will take us through the creation process on Zoom, while Kathryn Bernstein will be on hand with examples of each stage and to answer construction questions. The Zoom class will be recorded and available for additional viewings on Mary Jo’s YouTube channel for 30 days following the class.
A velvet strawberry pincushion kit is required for the class. Kits are $52.00, available to order in five color palettes on Mary Jo’s website. Each kit includes velvet, ribbon, floss, beads, sequins, sand, and interfacing to make five strawberries along with complete instructions and patterns. Finished size of each strawberry is 2 1/2” long by 1 1/2” wide.
Kathryn will provide wool roving for one strawberry, strong thread and beading needles for the class.
