Keeper Quilt Collection

For years, as part of the Dallas Quilt Show, the Guild sponsored a Block Contest. The contest results served two purposes. Some of the blocks were used to make the raffle quilt for the following year, and the best blocks were used to make a “keeper quilt” that became part of the Guild’s permanent collection and helped the Guild preserve our quilting history. In recent years, there have been variations from this, with the raffle quilt created using standardized patterns or a common theme.

Although the guild no longer collects keeper quilts due to the size of the collection and the expense involved with storing and insuring them, the Block Contest continues today as a way for Guild members to pit their skills against other Guild members in friendly competition. However, beginning in 2023, after the blocks are judged, they will be combined and added to the Miniature Quilt Auction to be auctioned off.
