The Quilter’s Guild of Dallas, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, depends on volunteers to accomplish the many tasks that running an organization with hundreds of members requires. Some will be projects you can do at home on your own time, and some will be “on site” during meetings or for special events. Please take a moment to peruse the list below and see if you can add your talents to our volunteer army!
Membership and Meeting Volunteers
Meetings provide many volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in meeting and greeting members and visitors, consider staffing the membership table. And assistance is always appreciated at the guild store, holding quilts for speakers, and passing out door prizes.

Programs & Workshops Volunteers
At meetings, the VP for Programs & Workshops can use people who can help the visiting teacher/lecturer run their sales table, as well as helping to sign members up for upcoming workshops. We also appreciate volunteers who can help with workshop check-in, setup, and cleanup/take-down.
Lastly, our guest teachers have to get around town and eat! We love having members volunteer to take a speaker to lunch or dinner while they are here, pick them up or drop them off at the airport, pick them up and drive them to the meeting or workshop location, or take them back to their hotel when they are done.
Guild Store Chairman & Helpers
Love to shop? Love to sell? Like helping choose merchandise for a small store? This could be the job for you! Our current chairman plans to “retire” after the 2009 Dallas Quilt Celebration, and we feel that working side-by-side during the show will help you get some “on the job” experience at the excitement.
Vice President – Show
Are you good with database management? Microsoft Office programs? An ace proofreader? We have several positions that can use your skills! Many of the jobs can be done at home on your own time. (You could do it in your pajamas! How cool is that?)
Covers for Kids
Nearly every month during the year, the Community Service Committee schedules “Covers for Kids” workshops at a local fabric store. When it fits into your schedule, bring your sewing machine or your favorite tool (rotary cutter & mat? iron?) and we’ll put you to work! We’ve constructed hundreds of tops this way.
We also have quilts that need binding put on. Come by the Communty Service table at a meeting, and ask if there is any binding that you can take home to work on. They’ll be HAPPY to give you some quilts and fabric to use!
For that matter, if you just feel like experimenting with a block-making technique and don’t have a reason to do so, just use your scraps or stash fabrics, and bring in your finished blocks or top! We’ll get it quilted.
General Show Volunteers
There are many tasks during show week that require small time commitments from volunteers. Tasks range from helping to hang the quilts in the show to helping serve meals and snacks in the vendor/volunteer lounge. Or maybe you like to TOUCH the quilts – be a quilt angel, wearing white gloves and showing details of entries to show visitors.
